JUST SOME OF THE MOST
POPULAR TRIP CHOICES

Trophy Stripers on the Chunk. (May through Early July). This is the time to land the fish of a lifetime!  Captain Jim will travel west where the big bass tend to stack up in early spring as they feed on the bunker schools.  Captain Jim follows the schools east as the summer progresses.  Fish weighing up to 25 pounds are the norm with a good chance of catching much larger fish.  (In 2009, the largest in the boat was 44 lbs and 2010 37lbs.)  You will be chunking with light to medium tackle as you fish the bunker schools.   Sunset to sunrise is the best time for these big bass, however in the spring the morning bite also provides a great opportunity. ( Passenger Limit - up to three)

Light Tackle, Skinny Water Plugging for Striped Bass and Bluefish.  (May - October) Captain Jim has expert knowledge of the local shorelines.  He will fish the rips, eddies and flats as you work the light spinning rods and lures for Striped Bass and Blues.  Early mornings and late day trips are best.  But bass can be caught on bucktails as the sun beats high through the entire season.  The majority of fish are schoolies up to 15 pounds. Enjoy the  thrill as you move from point to point, over the flats and up to rock piles in pursuit striped bass.  Don't be surprised if a large bass or gator bluefish joins in on the fun.  Captain Jim is a master with the bucktail as well as other lures. Both spinning tackle and lures will be provided.  (Passenger Limit -one or two preferred)

Late Summer - Light Tackle Gator Bluefish ( Late summer- early fall) This time of the year brings the gator blues onto the different shallow water flats around the island shorelines. You could be fishing in water as shallow as 3 feet with a surface plug watching bluefish up to 15 pounds explode on your offering. At dusk, complete your trip  with some top water action from striped bass.  This is a perfect time for a half-day,  late afternoon trip. Sunset trips are also great!  You will plug until dusk and then experience  shallow water bait fishing  as the fish move about the flats in pursuit of their prey that abound in the shallow water. (Passenger Limit - up to two or three preferred)

Inshore Chunking or Worming- Sunset Trips (June - October) Captain Jim will know where the bass or blues are biting  in the local harbors or along the island shorelines.  The captain always seeks out calm water for this type of fishing and it is a great way to introduce younger people  to striped bass and blue fishing.   One of the captain's favorite sounds is the scream of the ratchet in the still of the  early night as a bass or blue peels across the shallows after picking up the bait. (Passenger Limit - up to three preferred)

seabass
Bottom Fishing (All seasons) - Captain Jim will take up to four people bottom fishing for porgies, fluke, sea bass, and blackfish when in season.   In the early fall, Captain Jim specializes in catching blackfish on jigs on shallow water rock piles.  (That's correct, small jigs on light tackle baited with small pieces of crab.)  The captain likes to fish over local wrecks and humps for fluke, porgies, and sea bass.   The captain's favorite type of fishing for fluke is with live bait (sea perch or snappers) or bucktails around these types of structures.   Don't miss out on the  Porgey Fishing.  Great family favorite and sweet eating to boot. (Passenger limit of 4)

Jigging ( Mid August.- Nov.) - This is the time of year that your arms go home aching.   Gator blues start to stack up in deep water and the captain will seek them out and position the boat over the schools as you drop diamond jigs down to them in 40 to 80 feet of water.  It won't be long before you're begging for mercy!   Gradually as the water temps drop, the mix becomes more bass than blues.  The majority of bass are schoolies, but occasionally one similar to the bass shown in this photo jumps into the act. This bass weighed about 30 pounds and was caught on a diamond jig in early November.(Passenger limit of 4)
